TELEVISIONED

“for all who are fond of losing interest”

soft verse introduces a five track compilation available digitally and on cassette - 14/06/2019

Opening the compilation is label associate Burning Pyre (C. Owen). A radiant synth based piece, glistening frequencies are accompanied by haunting ASMR sampling to fashion this romantic atmosphere. Following on is a contribution from label founder (L. Thompson) under his guise Mick McCarthy. Drawing influence from the darker side of electro, “Bankrupt” makes use of plaintive FM synthesis matched with claustrophobic reverberated drum sounds to coincide with warped and effected field recordings. Continuing from the previous aesthetic ideas shown is a debut contribution from Laurent’s Mask (Z. Hinson). With associations with the label through being involved in SOD, Hinson has a carefully visioned plan for the electronic music he releases. The untitled track explores digital synth heavy techno, melodies and arrangements that ask questions and a clear influence from punk aesthetics. “Achtung!” from Power Literacy (H. Weeks) features next. With a self-titled cassette to be released on the label later in the month, the same sense of impending catastrophe and unease is displayed in this track. To settle the compilation “Mislaid” by Couture (C. Owen + M. McGarry) is a romantic, neo-classical tinged, piano based piece. With instrumental credits resting with McGarry and production and coordination lying with Owen, there is an evident collaborative understanding between the artists due to time working together with New Horror.
